If your Facebook ads get clicks but no leads, the problem is almost always after the click: a slow or confusing landing page, a weak or unclear offer, a form that asks too much, or tracking that is not recording leads properly. Check each of these in order before you change the ad itself, because the ad is already doing its job of getting attention.
Here are the causes we check first when a client's campaign has this problem.
1. The page loads too slowly
People who tap an ad on their phone often leave if the page takes too long to appear. Test your landing page on mobile data, not office wifi. If it feels slow, compress images, remove heavy scripts and consider a lighter page built just for the campaign.
2. The page does not match the ad
If the ad promises a free quote for kitchen remodels and the page opens on your general homepage, people feel lost. The headline on the page should repeat the promise from the ad, in similar words, so visitors know they are in the right place.
3. The offer is unclear or weak
Visitors need to understand in seconds what they get and why it is worth their details. "Contact us" is not an offer. "Get a free on site estimate this week" is. Make the benefit, the next step and any urgency obvious near the top.
4. The form asks too much
Every extra field gives someone another reason to stop. Ask only for what you need to follow up, usually name, phone or email, and one qualifying question. Remove anything you can collect later.
5. The form is broken
It sounds obvious, but we see it often. Submit your own form on several phones and browsers. Check that the confirmation shows, that the lead reaches your inbox or CRM, and that no error appears.
6. Tracking is missing leads
Sometimes leads are coming in, but Meta does not know. Check that:
Your Meta Pixel fires on the thank you page or on form submit
Conversions API events are being sent from your server
Leads, not clicks, are set as the campaign's optimization goal
If tracking is wrong, Meta optimizes for clicks instead of leads, and results get worse over time. Our tracking and analytics team fixes exactly this.
7. The wrong people are clicking
Broad targeting with a curiosity driven ad can bring clicks from people who were never going to buy. Make the ad more specific about who it is for, mention price range or location if relevant, and check whether the campaign is optimizing for link clicks rather than leads.
8. No trust signals
New visitors do not know you. Reviews, project photos, recognizable client logos and a real phone number make the decision feel safer. Place them near the form.
A quick diagnosis checklist
| Check | What to look for | |---|---| | Page speed on mobile | Loads quickly on mobile data | | Message match | Headline repeats the ad's promise | | Offer | Clear benefit and next step | | Form | Few fields, works on every device | | Tracking | Lead events recorded in Meta | | Optimization goal | Leads, not link clicks | | Trust | Reviews or proof near the form |
